On January 18, 1845, Henry Way, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $366 to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, W.Q. Baker, William Jones, John B. Mallard, E. Stacy), “the following negroes, Stephen Sarah and her two children Lucy and Tom.” Witnessed by N. Varnedoe, W.W. Winn. Recorded on March 20, 1845, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied this 1 March 1851. E. Stacey Act Exor Est. Lambert. Recorded 4 March 1851, J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.”]
