Enslaved Persons Named: Jerry, Jacob, Sarah, Penda, Stepney, Dick

On June 14, 1844, in Savannah, James D. Stevens, Liberty County, sold to Joseph C. Wilkins, also of Liberty County, for $1200 “the following negro slaves named Jerry, aged about twenty eight years, Jacob about forty five, Sarah aged about thirty years, Penda aged about eighteen years, Stepney aged fourteen, and Dick aged about twelve years.” Witnessed by Francis S. Bartow, Notary Public. Recorded on September 23, 1844, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk [of Liberty County Superior Court].
