Enslaved Persons Named: Robert
On August 6, 1844, Joseph S. Baker, guardian of William Bennet, a minor, of Liberty County, sold “a certain negro Slave Robert by name, the property of the aforesaid minor,” to E.H. Bacon for $500, after having obtained permission from the Liberty County Court of Ordinary, having advertised as required, and then putting Robert up for sale in front of the Liberty County Court House door on the first Tuesday in July 1844. Witnessed by William Bennet, Jas. W. Gookin, J.I.C.
On December 16, 1844, E.H. Bacon sold Robert to Thomas Chesser of Tattnall County for $500.
