On May 14, 1842, John Jones, Liberty County, sold to Joseph Jones, same county, for $8400 “the following twenty six Negro Slaves named as follows to wit: Affee Mag Georgia Troup Little Joe Vanburen [alt: Van Buren] Little Affee a child Charles Rosan [alt: Roseanne, Rosanne] Trim Bristol March Cuffee Friday Sandy July Nero Delia Candace Tenah child of Candace (Chloe a child) Phillis and old Sue. Witnessed by Charles B. Jones, James B. Jones.
On June 21, 1842, “To the purchase of the following named twelve Negroes (Viz), Affee Mag Georgia Troup Little Joe Vanburen Little Affee Charles Rosan Trim Bristol & March in which Joseph Jones had a lifetime estate and valued by Col. Wm. Maxwell and Dr. West at $2900. Added by Joseph Jones $100. [Total] $3000.”
“And to the purchase of the following fourteen negroes named Cuffee $500, Friday $500, Sandy $500, July $500, Nero $500 Delia $400 Little Prime $500 George Driver $500 Hardtimes [alt: Hard Times] $400 Candace $400 (Tenah child of Candace) $150 Chloe a child $100 and old Sue $50 making $5400. Total amt. $8400”
“By 100 Shares in Marine & F. Insurance bank at par $5000, Loan Certificate $2000, Cash paid in Savanah $200, Purchase of Eleanor & Lymus $500, by note payable ? January 1842 $700. Balance $8400.”
