On February 5, 1853, Jos. [or Jas.] M. Smith and William Patterson, executors & trustees of the estate of J.D. Mongin, sold for $1025 to Wm. [William] B. Gaulden “the following four negro slaves to wit Jenny, James Nanny & Charity…” Witnessed by M.J. Moody, Robert Rayford, J.P. in Chatham County. Recorded in Liberty County on October 10, 1853, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk of the Superior Court.
