Enslaved Persons Named: Racheal, Joe

On December 21, 1842, Sam’l [Samuel] Baker acknowledged receipt of $600 from Jacob Howard, in the form of a “certain execution” issued by the Liberty County Superior Court in favor of G.W. Anderson & Brother and signed over to Howard, in full payment for “a certain negro woman named Racheal [alt: Rachael] about 19 years old and her child Joe about 14 months old…” Witnessed by Harriet A. Mann, Henry R. Mann. Samuel Baker probated this document on April 27, 1853, before S.A. Fraser, Clerk of the Liberty County Superior Court. It was recorded by Fraser on the same day.
