On August 16, 1852, James S. Bradwell, Liberty County, used as collateral on two promissory notes, one for $250.29 and the other for $274.79, to William J. Way, of Savannah, “two certain negro slaves to wit Sam a carpenter aged about eighteen years and Charles a wheelwright and blacksmith…” Witnessed by John E. Zoucks, S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C. Recorded on November 15, 1852. [NOTE: Written on the deed was: “Satisfied in full this 20th Jany 1855. Wm. J. Way. Entered this 21st Jany 1855. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”]
