On December 8, 1851, E.H. Bacon, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note for $5000 to Mrs. Sarah H. Bacon, guardian of Augustus O. Bacon, a minor, “the following negro slaves Steven, Hannah, Hetty Dick, Nanny, Hillington, Affee Bill & Tom…” as well as certain described tracts of land. Witnessed by H.H. Bacon, Thos. [Thomas] J. Bacon J.I.C.L.C. Reocrded on January 10, 1852, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
