On June 3, 1851, Benjamin Lane and Joseph Ashmore, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note to J.Wilson Winn, guardian for the minors of Q. Way, Liberty County, $660 in five payments “the following property of one tract of land in Liberty Co. lately purchased from the heirs of Mrs. E. Winn deceased containing four hundred and forty four & a half acre more or less and known as the Wilson tract also two Negro slaves viz. Moses and Chaney and the future issue of the female slave.” Witnessed by J.S. Bradwell, S.A. Fraser, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on September 3, 1851. [NOTE: Marked on this deed was “Satisfied in full. Jno. B. Mallard. March 20th 1861. Entered this 20th March 1861. Jesse Brewer, Clerk.”]
