On May 6, 1851, Enoch Daniel and E.D. Hendry used as collateral on a promissory note to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, Ezra Stacy, William Q. Baker, William Jones, and John B. Mallard) “the following property to wit – Two Slaves viz. Brister, about eighteen years of age, and Doll, about fourteen years of age.” Witnessed by Philip M. Russell, J.P. of Chatham County. [NOTE: Not clear why a Chatham County Justice of the Peace witnessed the deed, when the parties were from Liberty County and it was recorded in Liberty County.] Recorded on August 4, 1851, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
