On March 5, 1849, Thos. [Thomas] B. Coleman, of New Haven, Connecticut, and William Coleman, of Liberty County, Georgia, acknowledged receipt of 2/3 of the property of their deceased mother, Sarah Coleman, by their father, John Coleman, “to wit the present delivery of the following negro Slaves, Nancy, Cyrus, Rose, Ben, and Dick to the said Wm. J. Coleman by the said John Coleman, and also to wit, the present delivery of the following negro Slaves, John, Delia, Rachael & Adam, to the said Thos. B. Coleman by the said John Coleman. Thomas and William Coleman also then transferred to John Coleman “the following negro slaves – to wit, Celia, Sam, Lucy, Henry & Simon. Witnessed by John W. Stacy, D. Zoucks, J.P. Noted as signed by William Coleman on February 4, 1850. Recorded on August 15, 1850.
