On February 12, 1849, Edmund B. Way, Liberty County, sold to Jacob Thiess, also of Liberty County, for $750 “the following negroes, namely, one negro woman, named Jane, and her children, Mary and Margaret…” Witnessed by J.S. Bradwell, S.A. Fraser J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on August 22, 1850.
