On March 29, 1849, Benjamin S. Scriven [alt: Screven], Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1400 to George W. Anderson and John A. Anderson, Savannah, Chatham County, “merchants and copartners doing business under the name firm and style of G.W. Anderson & Brother,” “the following negro slaves to wit: Prince, Stephen, Beck, Owen, Moses and Smart.” Witnessed by G.W. Dunham, T.W. Quarterman, J.P. Recorded on May 21, 1849, by J.S.
