On January 9, 1849, Benj. [Benjamin] C. Maxwell, Liberty County, sold for $300 to Sarah C. Ward of New Haven, Connecticut, “a certain negro man Slave named July about 25 years old.” Witnessed by H.M. Stevens, P.W. Fleming. Probated by P.W. Fleming on March 5, 1849, before S.A. Fraser. Recorded on March 16, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
