Randal F. Jones, of Riceboro, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1000 to Laura C. Jones “the following negro slaves viz. Boston, aged about thirty years, Willoby [alt: Willoughby, Willowby] aged about twenty eight years, James aged about nineteen years and Jose aged about twenty one years. Witnessed by Wm. [William] R. McConnell, L.L. Varnedoe, Not. Pub. Recorded on January 11, 1859, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on the deed was “I do hereby certify that the within mortgage was satisfied this twenty sixth day of August 1859. Marrietta Ga. [Signed] Laura C. Jones. Witnesess T.R. McConnell. Entered this 3d October 1859. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”
