On January 5, 1858, J.W. Farmer, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $838.50 to D.J. Myrick of Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia, “one certain negro boy named Abe about twenty years of age five feet six inches high. Also one certain negro woman named Mary of light complexion about twenty four years of age, five feet four inches high.” Witnessed by W.W. Zorn, S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C. Recorded on January 20, 1858, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on the deed was “Cassville 28th July 1862. The clerk of the Superior Court of Liberty County will please mark satisfied in full a mortgage given by J.W. Farmer to me and recorded in your office on Book O. folio 356 on this 20th Jany 1858. D.J. Myrick. Entered this 27th August 1862. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”]
