Enslaved Persons Named: Anis

On August 26, 1857, David S. Baggs, Liberty County, gifted to Isabella Smart, now Isabella Delk, “a certain negro girl Slave by the name of Anis to her the said Isabella Delk and the heirs of her body…” He stated that this was due to “the natural love and affection which I have and do bear toward Isabella…” Witnessed by Janet Martin, Angus Martin, James Smylie, J.P. Recorded on September 12, 1857, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
