On January 21, 1856, William L. Walthour, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $968.75 to George W. Walthour, Liberty County, “the following named slaves (viz.) Paris and John.”  Witnessed by W.O. Fleming, W.A. Fleming, J.T Rowland Jr. Probated by J.T. Rowland on May 12, 1856, and recorded on May 12, 1856 by S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C.
