On May 19, 1854, Edmund Way and William John Way used as collateral on a promissory note for $795.53 to Thomas Mallard, Ezra Stacy, William Q. Baker, William Jones and John B. Mallard, executors of John Lambert’s estate “the following property to wit Lindey, Cloe, and Betsey together with their issue.” Witnessed by Moses W. Way, S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C. Recorded on June 1, 1854 by S.A. Fraser, Clerk. [NOTE: Written across this deed was “Settled [Signed] Jno. B. Mallard, Exor Jno. Lambert, April 15, 1859. Entered this 16th April 1859. S.A. Fraser.]
