Comments: John B. Mallard, Mrs. M.A. Cassels, Mrs. C. A. Baker (listed as C.A. Fleming in the division), Mrs. Mary Spencer, John E. Baker, W.H. Baker, R.Q. Baker, Augustus Baker, S.M. Baker, E.F. Baker, minor children of Mrs. Ann Scriven (distributees) and L.M. Baker and B.L. Baker, legatees. Note that inventory appears to have been made by gender, and by value within gender, so likely does not indicate family relationships. Estate was divided into three lots, which were drawn as follows:

1 — John B. Mallard
2 — children of Mrs. Ann Lydia Baker deceased
3 — Mrs. Mary A. Cassels

Lot #2 was then subdivided and distributed to the remaining 9 distributees. Only the first 3 lots included enslaved people, as follows:

These antebellum estate inventories and appraisals generally included all the deceased person’s “property,” including enslaved persons. Only those names are documented here for historical and genealogical purposes. Anyone interested in the actual property owned by the deceased may find it at the link at the bottom of the page. Names are listed in the original order, as this often gives very valuable information about family groupings or the age of children (who may be listed in age order).
