Enslaved Persons Named: Lindy (daughter of Grace)
Mary J. Bacon, Liberty County, gave to her granddaughter Flora Ellen Fraser on November 6, 1861 “a certain negro girl named Lindy and her future issue and increase, said Lindy being the daughter of Grace and aged about Eleven years…” out of “natural love and affection”. Designated for Flora’s separate use and never to be subject to control by a husband; if Flora has no children when she dies, Lindy is to revert to Mary J. Bacon’s heirs. Mary J. Bacon appointed her son-in-law, Simon A. Fraser, trustee “for said property.” Witnessed by ???J. F. Calder??, W.P. Girardeau, Not. Pub. Recorded on January 10, 1862, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
