Enslaved People Named: Bulah [alt. Beulah], Washington, Joe

By virtue of a marriage settlement between Josiah P. Stevens and Ann LeConte, both of Liberty County, on 8 June 1843, John LeConte and Joseph LeConte, now of Columbia, South Carolina, were authorized to sell her property with Josiah’s and Ann’s written consent. For $1500 they did sell to H.C. Parker “three negro slaves, Bulah & her two children, Washington, aged three years & Joe, aged eleven months.” Witnessed on 29 December 1860 by Walter L.C. Stevens, Jno [John] B. Mallard, J.I.C.L.C. Signed by John LeConte, J.P. Stevens, A.L.C. Stevens, Joseph LeConte. Recorded on 18 April 1861 by Jesse Brewer, Clerk.
