Enslaved Persons Named: Robert Shelman.
Receipt dated March 23, 1860 for $800 from David B.N. Sheppard for “one certain negro boy named Robert Shelman aged about ten years, said boy being sold by me to John E. Girardeau under and by a power of attorney as the property for the immediate issue and benefit of William O. Girardeau now resident of Monticello, Jefferson County, Florida.” John E. Girardeau said that he did “warrant the said boy to be perfectly sound and well, and good property every way.” Witnesses Wm. J. Daley, Seaborn E. Jones. Recorded on April 4, 1860, by Jesse Brewer, Clerk.
