Comments: Appraisers were assigned to appraise and divide the property among the trust estate of Nathaniel J. Varnedoe and his children William M. and Josephine Varnedoe. Besides the enslaved people, the estate contained: plantation ($2500), 17 head of cattle ($119), 1 barouche ($40), 1 horse $30. The trust estate was devised by Nathaniel Varnedoe’s will. Statement of the above was made to S.M. Varnedoe, W.Q. Baker, and W.W. Winn “for the benefit and behoof” of N.J. Varnedoe and children. Lot #1 went to Nathaniel J. Varnedoe and lots #2 and #3 “to the minors”. An attached document was signed by N.J. Varnedoe to acknowledge his receipt of Flora, Charity, Mike, Daniel, and Friday.
