Catherine Hastings of Liberty County. Last Will and Testament (undated). Gives to Mrs. Frederica Alexander and her two children, Adam and Louisa; to Mr. Jedidiah Fields and wife Elizabeth she gives her homeplace and slaves. To William C. Lawson she gives slaves and a horse. To Miss Sarah H. Duncan and Miss Mary Isabel Agnew she gives her wearing apparel. To Mr. John Lines she gives her land on Belcher’s Neck where he has settled. She frees two of her servants and gives them land. Residue of estate she gives to the Baptist Church at Sunbury to be used for the needs of the church and of the poor. Executors: William C. Lawson, Jedidiah Field. Witnesses: John Webb, John Somersall, and J. A. Cuthbert, J.I.C.

“Item: It is my will that my two servants (here named) Leah and Derry [or Darry], at my decease, should have their freedom; and there be given to them as follows: To Leah, two acres of land nearest her house on the plantation where I now reside; also to Derry, three acres of land, in the same manner, to both of them for life. And I do hereby appoint Mr. William C. Lawson their guardian.”
To Mrs. Frederica Alexander, and her two children, Adam and Louisa: …”my negro woman Jemima and her children.”
To: Mr. Jedidiah Field and his wife Elizabeth: “the plantation on which I now live, with the reserve of the five acres of land, as above mentioned, and the following negroes, fellow Boston, wench Keziah and her children.”
To Mr. William C. Lawson: “the following negroes, China, Affey [alt: Affee] and her children, and my grey horse.”
