Enslaved Persons Named: Isaac, Lily, Peggy

On March 6, 1838, in Hinesville, Raymond Cay, administrator of the estate of David Stetson, received from Charlton Hines $1315 “in full for one male Slave named Isaac, & for two female Slaves named Lily & Peggy, purchased by him this day & legally sold as the property of the estate of David Stetson deceased.” Witnessed by U. Wilcox and Jeremiah Sanders. Charlton Hines then transferred “all of my right, title & claim to the three slaves within named to Raymond Cay,” which was also witnessed by Wilcox and Sanders. Wilcox probated the deed and the transfer on March 26, 1838. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 25, 1838.
