On June 23, 1837, John S. Fraser, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note to George W. Walthour, also of Liberty County, “the following named Slaves with the issue and increase of the females, viz: Handy, Betty, Rinah [alt: Rhinah], Hector, Nancy, L. Hendy, L. Agrippa, Old Sambo, Eave [alt: Eve], Amelia, Ben, Parris [alt: Paris], Elizabeth, L. Sambo, Scipio, Affey [alt: Affee], John, Billy, Phoebe, John, Lucy, Dye, Bess, Lancaster, Phillis, Harry, Sam, Adam, O. Caesar, O. Cate, Toney, B. Agrippa, O. Peter, Joe, Little Catie, Louisa, William Patty, Mariah, Jane, Abram, Sary & Jack,” plus two tracts of land in Liberty County known as the Ramoth Gillead Tract containing 720 acres, bounded south by lands of estate of Fabian, east by Henry M. Stevens, north by the public road, with the other tract known as Woodville, containing 712 acres, bounded north by lands of Richard F. Baker and John Baker, east by lands of J. Dunwoody, south by the Ramoth Gilliad Tract, west by Robert McIntosh.
The terms of the note were that Walthour should pay Fraser an annuity of $1200 annually and another $300 annually to Mrs. Sarah Smiley. Witnessed by W.B. Fleming, Thos. [Thomas] W. Fleming. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on July 15, 1837.
