Enslaved Persons Named: Jim

On March 13, 1837, Wm. [William] B. Gaulden, Liberty County, used as collateral “a certain male slave named Jim…” Gaulden stated that he had previously made a promissory note dated February 14, 1836, for $450 to E.H. Bacon, and that the note had been transferred to Albert T. Bacon. Witnessed by Geo. [George] W. Dunham. On the same day, A.T. Bacon transferred the note to Uriah Wilcox. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 17, 1837. [NOTE: Marked satisfied in full as of July 6, 1840, per Oliver Stevens, administrator. Satisfaction recorded on January 11, 1841.]
