On January 23, 1836, Charles West sold to Joseph Jones for $745 “a negro wench named Judy & her child Pleasant, the said wench & child purchased from Major William McIntosh of McIntosh County & received them on a/c [account] of my attendance on his father & mother in their last sickness.” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 18, 1836.
