On January 12, 1836, David Anderson, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1350 to John O. Baker, also a planter of Liberty County, “the following negro slaves, Toby & Cumba, Toby Lea [alt: Leah] & her child John…” Witnessed by Sarah D. Fabian, and William J. Way, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on January 14, 1836.
