On February 1, 1834, Samuel S. Law used as collateral on a promissory note to the Commissioners of Sunbury Academy, Rev. Wm. [William] McWhir, Joseph Jones, Jos. [Joseph] E. Maxwell and Oliver Stevens, “a negro man named Goliah & a negro woman named Peggy with her future issue together with her two children Joe & Nancy…” Witnessed by [NOTE: Marked as satisfied by Oliver Stevens, treasurer of the funds of Sunbury Academy. Satisfaction recorded on June 15, 1838.]
