On January 23, 1834, Smith S. Hart, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note to Joseph Jones for $2642 “all those six negro slaves, named Lucy, Judy, Phillis, Sally, Jim and Doll, with the future increase of the females.” [NOTE: Satisfaction recorded on the deed as of January 15, 1843. Recorded on March 9, 1843.]
