On January 7, 1834, Ann E. Mara and James Mara, as administrators for the estate of Morgan Mara, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $5000 to Thos. [Thomas] W. Quarterman, also of Liberty County, “the seven following negroes, viz. Nancy, Edwin, Evelina, Titus, Stephen, John & Pulaski…” Witnessed by Bartholomew A. Busby, Joseph Austin, Abiel Winn. Signed by Ann E. Mara and J.C. Mara. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 1, 1834. [NOTE: Mortgage on the tract of land marked satisfied as of February 31, 1843. Recorded on March 5, 1843.]
