On September 28, 1833, Raymond Harris of Liberty County used as collateral on a promissory note of $7000 to William B. Fleming “the following negro slaves and their issue: to wit, Hetty, Amy, Henry, Eliza, Hannah, Sarah, Jack, Hampshire, Jacob, Flora, Louisa, James, Doll, Cyrus, Hannah, Abram, Rose.” On the same day, Harris also used as collateral on a promissory note to Fleming “all those two tracts of land, situate, lying and being in the County of Liberty and being contiguous to each other, bounded South by lands of Dr. Charles West, North by lands of Frampton, East by unknown lands, and West by lands of Wm. Hope, Charles West and the estate of Samuel Lewis.” Witnessed by J.S. Bulloch, John Dunwody, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 6, 1833.
