“I give and bequeath to Mr. Thomas Mallard, with whom I now reside, my negro boy Edward, and my four wheel carriage, and in consideration of his kindness and attention, I give and bequeath to him the said Thomas Mallard the sum of four hundred dollars, if there should be so much due on his note from him to me. If there should not be so much due on said note, I then give and bequeath to him the balance that shall be found due.”
