On March 31, 1841, Samuel Spencer used as collateral on a promissory note of $1000 to J.S. Fleming “the following named Slaves with the issue of the females (viz) Tyra, Pricilla and James.” Witnessed by W.B. Fleming, Not. Pub., Wm. J. Way. Recorded on May 10, 1841, by E. Way, Clerk.
