On June 15, 1838, Richard S. Baker, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1058.38 to George W. Walthour “the three following named negro Slaves: Mary, Cato, & Bob, together with the future issue of the said Mary.” Witnessed by Saml [Samuel] Stevens, S. Spencer, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on June 28, 1838, by Edward Way, Clerk.
