On June 18, 1845, Joseph E. Maxwell, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $4500 to George W. Anderson and John W. Anderson, doing business as factors under the name George W. Anderson & Brother in Savannah, a tract of land in Liberty County containing 500 acres more or less which adjoined the Bryan County boundaries, bounded by the land of Charles W. Rogers, Mrs. Fulton, and other land belonging to Joseph E. Maxwell, in addition to “the following named negro slaves to wit Aleck [alt: Alleck], Peggy, Dinah, Joe, Joshua, little Alick, Da??? [David? Daniel?], little Joe, Die [alt: Dye], David, Eve, Jenny, Charles, Thomas, Alfred and an infant…” Witnessed by Oliver P. Felt, R.R. Cuyler, Not. Pub. Recorded on October 23, 1845, by J.S.
