On April 1, 1845, William N. Way, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $500 to Mary Catherine Kallender “the following named negroes, with the issue & increase of the females viz Booby Cate [or Cato; alt: Kate] and Rosannah…” Witnessed by A.M. McIver, Geo. W. Dunham, J.I.C. Recorded on April 1, 1845, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied 13 Apl 1863 W.L. Walthour Agent for Miss Kalender. Entered this 13th April 1863. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”]
