Enslaved Persons Named: Jim, Henry

On November 4, 1844, Edward Way, Mary Way and Edward F. Way, Liberty County, turned over to Joseph Way and Wm. [William] N. Way “two negro slaves to wit Jim aged about seven & Henry about six years old”  used as collateral on a promissory note of $250 to G.W. Walthour. The deed was also signed by Thomas J. Shepherd to witness his consent as the “trustee for the parties.” Recorded on December 13, 1844, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
