Enslaved Persons Named: John, Mariah, Pamela or Puss

On December 2, 1854, Briggs H. Moultrie, of Jefferson County, gifted to his daughter Anne M. Quarterman, wife of Augustus S. Quarterman, through her trustee Joseph Quarterman “the following named negroes viz. John, a negro man twenty years old, Mariah a negro woman twenty one years old, and Pamelia or Puss a negro girl about fourteen years old of yellow complexion.” Witnessed by A.C. Moultrie, James A. Mulling J.P. Recorded on January 15, 1856, by S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C.
