William John Way, Liberty County, used as collateral in a debt of $819.11 to Charlton Hines “the following property to wit: Cudjoe, a negro man aged about 45 years, Amy aged about 36 years, Betty aged about 36 years, Valeria, aged about 20 years, Phebe aged about 18 years, and Mack, a negro fellow aged about 22 years, on the above named six negroes there is a mortgage lien for thirteen hundred dollars in favor of Est. John Lambert. I also bargain and sell to the said Charlton Hines, a negro girl named Emily aged about sixteen years.” Witnessed by Joseph Way, Jesse Brwer, C.S.C.L.C. Recorded on 15 May 1861 by Jesse Brewer, Clerk. [Marked on the document: “Received of Wm. J. Way, nine hundred and thirty seven dollars 89 cents in full for the within. Feby 17th 1864. C. Jines.
