Randal F. Jones sold to W.L. Walthour, guardian for R. Walthour, for $3000 on March 13, 1861, “the following negroes, viz: Betty, Clarinda, Mariah, Lizzy & Annie.” “In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal, dated at Sav’h the 13th day of March, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty one, and in the 1st Year of the Independence of the Southern Confederacy.” Witnessed by A.R. Tinsley, F.L. [word], Notary Public C.C.  Recorded on 8 April 1861 by Jesse Brewer, Clerk.
