“State of Georgia, Liberty County } Know all men by these presents, that I Augustus M. McIver, of the County and State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the Sum of one Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars, to him in hand paid by James C. Sturtevant, of the City of Savannah, County of Chatham, and State aforesaid, as Trustee under the marriage settlement of the Said Augustus M. McIver, and Caroline M., his wife (bearing date the twelfth day of October Eighteen Hundred and fifty-Eight, and recorded in Book O. of the County Records of the Said County of Liberty) at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained, sold, and delivered, and by these presents, Doth bargain, sell and deliver unto the said James C. Sturtevant, two male negro slaves, viz: Ned, about thirty six years of age, and Tarleton, about thirty one years of age, to have and to hold the said negro Slaves unto him the said James C. Sturtevant, in Trust to, for , and upon the uses, trusts, conditions, limitations, and restrictions set forth, expressed, and declared in the marriage settlement aforesaid, and to, for and upon no other uses, trusts, interests, or purposes whatsoever.” Signed by A.M.
