W.O. Girardeau, of Liberty County, appointed John E. Girardeau, same county, as his agent on December 13, 1859 to sell “the following negroes (now in the possession of the said John E. Girardeau, and belonging to me as one of the Distributees of the Est. of Elizabeth Nelmes, late of the aforesaid State & County deceased) viz: Abram about thirteen or fourteen years old, and Robert about ten or eleven years old…” Witness was J.A. Girardeau. Recorded on April 4, 1860 by Jesse Brewer, C.L.C. [Transcriber’s note: In Elizabeth Nelmes’s will, William O. Girardeau was named as her grandson.]
