Enslaved People Named: Courtnay, Sally, Burke
On February 18, 1863, at Savannah, Nicholas King sold to Harriet Ann Elbert, surviving trustee of C.A.E. Parsons for $1350 “the following Negroes to wit, Courtnay aged about thirty years and child named Sally about nine months and their future issue and increase, both warranted sound.”
On February 19, 1863, in Emanuel County, Augustus S. Cross sold to W.T. Parsons for Harriet Ann Elbert, surviving trustee of C.A.E. Parsons, for $1100 “the following negro to wit, Burke aged about forty six.”
Both these deed records were recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on December 20, 1863.
