On December 6, 1861, Phereby Shuman and Wm. [William] H. Shuman came to agreement over a lawsuit between the two of them disputing ownership of “two negro children to wit Sue a girl aged about five years and Charles a boy aged about three years.” Phereby Shuman relinquished all her right to them in return for $5 from William. Witnessed by Wm. H. Shuman, Jr, James H. Feaster. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on February 17, 1862.
