Enslaved Persons Named: Abe, Charles.
H. F. Horne, of Liberty County, on March 5, 1860 used as collateral for a promissory note to J.W. Farmer, trustee or guardian of John Alfred Jordan, also of Liberty County, “a certain negro man named Abe of light complexion and about twenty years of age, also a negro fellow named Charles of dark complexion and about eighteen years of age.” Witnessed by Wm. [William] Hughes Jr., E. Daniel J.J.C.L.C. The document was marked “Satisfied in full March 3d, 1863” signed by J.W. Farmer and as recorded by S.A. Fraser on March 3, 1863.
