1805 Bryan County Collateral Mortgage (Keating/Young)

On January 2, 1805, Richard Keating, planter of Bryan County, used as collateral on several promissory notes for $1000 to Thomas Young Senior, of Chatham County, “the following negro slaves, to wit, Judy [or July], about thirty years of age, Gabo [or Yabo] about twenty years of age, Toby about thirty five years of age, Sharlott about thirty years of age, and Abraham about eighteen years of age, together with the future issue and increase of the said female slaves.” Witnessed by John Lawson, attorney of Savannah. Recorded in Bryan County Superior Court on January 9, 1805.
