Georgia, Liberty County } This Indenture made and entered into by the Ordinary of said County and Mrs. Laura Gleen* Winn both of said county and State witnesseth that the said Joseph Ashmore as aforesaid hath agreeably to an order passed [left blank] 1883 in pursuance of the Statute in such case made, and provided, bound out for the term of five years Warren J. Fraser to the aforesaid Mrs. Laura Gleen Winn, she the said Mrs. Winn agreeing and contracting to teach the said Warren Fraser the business of husbandry and the habits of industry etc to furnish him with protection, wholesome food and medicine, to feed and cloth him properly and to each him the elementary principles of the English language, and of matematics [sic] and shall govern him with humanity using only the same degree of force to enforce obedience that would be exercised by a parent and to give the said Warren Fraser when his herm of apprenticeship shall have expired the sum of fifty dollars in cash. In witness whereof the aforesaid parties have put their hands and seals this the 16th day of January One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Four (1884).
